Haryana Budget Approves 14 Km Elevated Corridor to Ease Traffic at Vatika Chowk and Bakhtawar Chowk

Gurugram’s infrastructure development received a major push in the Haryana Budget 2025-26. The state government led by Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini has announced a large road infrastructure plan aimed at reducing congestion and improving mobility across the city. One of the most important announcements is a 14 km elevated corridor planned between Ghata, Vatika Chowk, and NH-48. Along with this, the government has also proposed five new flyovers at key intersections. These projects are intended to reduce traffic pressure on major roads and make commuting easier for residents and businesses. For investors who track infrastructure development in Gurugram, such projects are important signals. Connectivity upgrades often reshape how people move across the city and influence which residential sectors gain attention over time.

14 km elevated corridor in Gurugram to improve connectivity between Ghata and NH-48

The proposed 14 km elevated road along the Southern Peripheral Road (SPR) is one of the largest mobility projects planned for Gurugram in recent years. The project is expected to cost nearly ₹2,900 crore and will be developed as an eight-lane elevated corridor designed to handle heavy traffic flow. This road will connect the Gurugram-Faridabad Road directly with National Highway 48, one of the busiest highway routes in North India. By linking these roads, authorities expect smoother traffic movement across several parts of the city. Get details

The elevated corridor will be developed in two phases:

  • Ghata to Vatika Chowk (around 8.8 km) with an estimated cost of about ₹1,846 crore
  • Vatika Chowk to NH-48 (around 5.1 km) with an estimated cost of about ₹1,065 crore

Once operational, this corridor will help vehicles bypass multiple congested intersections along the Southern Peripheral Road. It will also strengthen connectivity with important regional routes such as the Dwarka Expressway.

For people who commute daily between different parts of Gurugram, this could mean shorter travel times and a more predictable commute.

New flyovers planned at Bakhtawar Chowk and other traffic-heavy junctions

In addition to the elevated corridor, the government has also approved five new flyovers in Gurugram. These flyovers will be constructed at several busy intersections, including Bakhtawar Chowk and Ambedkar Chowk, where traffic congestion is common during peak hours. The total estimated cost for these structures is around ₹302 crore. The idea behind building flyovers is fairly simple. When traffic moving through the city is separated from local traffic at ground level, vehicles can move faster without frequent stops at traffic signals. One of the early projects expected to begin is the Dadi Sati Chowk flyover, which may provide relief to commuters travelling through that corridor. For many office-goers, these flyovers could reduce the time spent in daily traffic bottlenecks.

How the southern peripheral road infrastructure project may influence property demand

Infrastructure upgrades often change how people evaluate different neighbourhoods in Gurugram. When travel becomes easier between residential areas and business districts, those locations gradually become more attractive for homebuyers. The Southern Peripheral Road corridor has already seen steady residential development in recent years. Sectors located along this route have become popular among buyers who want access to both Gurugram and Delhi. The proposed elevated corridor could further improve accessibility to these areas. For example, sectors such as 70 and 72 are already considered convenient for professionals working in nearby business hubs. Better road infrastructure may also improve connectivity with major national routes such as the Delhi–Mumbai Expressway. When travel between cities and industrial corridors becomes easier, residential areas located near these routes often receive more attention from buyers. Investors who follow infrastructure-led development in Gurugram typically monitor such connectivity upgrades because they often shape long-term growth patterns.

Emerging residential sectors near SPR that could benefit from better connectivity

The new elevated corridor and flyovers could influence Gurugram’s property market in the coming years. Improved connectivity along the Southern Peripheral Road is expected to make nearby residential sectors more accessible for daily commuters. As travel between Gurugram, Delhi, and Manesar becomes easier, many investors are already exploring flats along the Southern Peripheral Road corridor. Residential apartments in Sector 70 and Sector 72 are gaining attention because of their proximity to major roads and business hubs. At the same time, interest in plots in New Gurugram may also increase as infrastructure expands. Sectors such as 48, 56, and 102 could benefit from stronger connectivity, especially with better access to Delhi-Mumbai Expressway.

What the elevated corridor project means for Gurugram’s long-term growth

Gurugram has grown rapidly over the past decade, and infrastructure has struggled to keep pace with the city’s expansion. Projects such as the 14 km elevated corridor and new flyovers are aimed at addressing some of these long-standing mobility challenges. If executed as planned, the project could help reduce congestion, improve connectivity between key roads, and support the city’s expanding residential areas. For investors and homebuyers observing Gurugram’s development, infrastructure announcements like these often highlight where future urban growth may take place. Over the coming years, the success of these road projects will likely play a role in shaping how the city continues to expand.
